सामाजिक बांधिलकी फाऊंडेशन is a non-profit working alongside marginalised communities in Maharashtra. The word “बांधिलकी” means bonds — the ties that hold people together.

We work in education, livelihoods, women's empowerment, and community organising. Our approach is simple: listen first, understand deeply, then act. The community's voice is the foundation of every initiative we take.

०१
आदिवासी समुदाय सेवा — Adivasi Community Service

We organise regular visits to adivasi communities and schools — fulfilling critical needs like drinking water, solar panels, fans, tube lights, and essential infrastructure.

०२
शिक्षण व पुनर्वसन — Education and Rehabilitation

We donate books, school bags, raincoats, caps and shoes to farmer rehabilitation centres. We also support adivasi girls' nursing schools with rations, surgical items, and direct donations.

०३
वैद्यकीय सेवा — Medical Aid and Camps

We fund free surgeries for BPL patients, provide medical supplies to roadside patients, and organise free health check-up camps in underserved urban communities.

०४
महिला सक्षमीकरण — Women's Empowerment

Providing women with economic independence, legal awareness, and leadership opportunities — with special focus on women in adivasi and marginalised communities.

One surgery. One man's world, restored.

A life changed

One surgery. One man's world, restored.

Ashok Pawar lived on the streets of Mumbai with failing eyesight. When our volunteers found him, he was nearly blind. We ran background checks, coordinated with our trustees, and arranged free cataract surgery for both eyes at a well-known Hospital.

Today, Ashok can see. This is what SBF does: we find the people no system has reached, and we show up.

Coming soon: We are currently organising more free cataract surgeries for roadside and BPL patients across Mumbai. If you know someone in need, reach out.

A step towards a healthier community 💚

A step towards a healthier community 💚

Samajik Bandhilki Foundation, in collaboration with Wockhardt Hospital and Dr. Agarwal Eye Clinic, successfully organized a Free Health Check-Up Camp on Saturday, 12th April 2026, at Shatra Nyati Niwas Hall, Opposite Girgaon Church, Raja Ram Mohan Roy Road, Charni Road, Mumbai – 400004. The camp was held from 10:00 AM onwards and ran through the better part of the day, witnessing an overwhelming and heartwarming response from the local community. Healthcare in urban India remains deeply unequal. While world-class hospitals and specialist clinics exist within a few kilometres, millions of working-class families in cities like Mumbai go years without a basic check-up — not because they don't care about their health, but because the cost, the queues, and the complexity of navigating the healthcare system make it inaccessible. This camp was our answer to that gap. The Venue & Turnout Shatra Nyati Niwas Hall, nestled in the heart of Girgaon — one of Mumbai's oldest and most densely populated neighbourhoods — provided the perfect setting for this initiative. The hall filled up quickly as residents from Girgaon, Charni Road, Thakurdwar, Kalbadevi, and surrounding areas arrived in large numbers, many accompanied by elderly family members and young children. By mid-morning, the queue stretched well beyond the entrance, a testament to the community's hunger for accessible healthcare. In total, over 100 patients were screened and treated on the day — a number that exceeded our initial projections and reinforced why initiatives like these are so urgently needed. Services Offered Every attendee had access to a full suite of health screenings and consultations, all provided at absolutely no cost: 👁️ Eye Examination — conducted by trained optometrists and ophthalmologists from Dr. Agarwal Eye Clinic, screening for refractive errors, early signs of glaucoma, cataracts, and diabetic retinopathy. 🩺 Blood Pressure Check — quick screening to identify hypertension, one of the most underdiagnosed conditions in urban low-income populations ❤️ ECG (Electrocardiogram) — cardiac screening to detect arrhythmias, early signs of heart disease, and other electrical irregularities of the heart 🦴 Bone Density Check — especially important for women above 40 and the elderly, helping detect early osteoporosis before fractures occur 📊 BMI Assessment — body mass index measurement combined with dietary and lifestyle counselling 🫁 Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) — lung capacity and airflow measurement, critical for identifying asthma, COPD, and other respiratory conditions common in urban, high-pollution environments. 🩸 Blood Sugar Test — fasting and random blood glucose screening to identify pre-diabetes and diabetes, conditions affecting millions of Indians who remain undiagnosed. 👨‍⚕️ Free Doctor Consultations — one-on-one consultations with experienced physicians from Wockhardt Hospital, who reviewed test results, answered patient questions, and provided referrals where necessary. On the Ground The energy inside the hall was one of quiet purpose. Volunteers — many of them young students and community members — guided attendees through each station, ensured orderly queuing, assisted elderly patients, and helped manage documentation. Medical staff from both partner institutions worked tirelessly, moving between stations, reviewing results, and spending meaningful time with each patient rather than rushing through the numbers. Several elderly attendees told our volunteers that this was the first time in years — some said ever — that they had received a comprehensive check-up. A number of patients were flagged for follow-up care based on their results, and our team ensured they received guidance on where and how to access further treatment. For many families present, the camp wasn't just about the screenings. It was about being seen. About an organisation showing up in their neighbourhood and saying — your health matters, and we're here. Why This Matters Girgaon and its surrounding areas are home to thousands of families from lower and lower-middle income backgrounds — daily wage workers, small traders, domestic workers, and retired individuals living on limited savings. For these communities, a visit to a private hospital or specialist clinic can mean a full day's wages lost, a loan taken, or a health concern left unaddressed for months or years. Preventive healthcare — the kind offered at camps like this — can be genuinely life-saving. Catching high blood pressure early prevents strokes. Identifying blood sugar irregularities prevents the onset of full diabetes. Detecting a lung condition before it worsens prevents hospitalisation. These are not abstract benefits. These are the real, tangible outcomes of making healthcare accessible. This is the work Samajik Bandhilki Foundation exists to do. Gratitude None of this would have been possible without the generosity, expertise, and commitment of our partners and supporters. We extend our deepest gratitude to the entire team at Wockhardt Hospital — the doctors, nurses, and administrative staff who gave their Saturday to serve the community. We thank Dr. Agarwal Eye Clinic for bringing specialist eye care directly to the doorstep of those who need it most. We are grateful to the management of Shatra Nyati Niwas Hall for graciously hosting the event. To every volunteer who showed up early, stayed late, carried equipment, guided patients, and kept the energy going throughout the day — thank you. You are the backbone of everything we do. And to every resident of Girgaon and beyond who walked through those doors, trusted us with their health, and participated with openness and enthusiasm — this camp was for you, and because of you. Looking Ahead This camp is not a one-off. It is part of a larger, ongoing commitment by Samajik Bandhilki Foundation to bring essential services — health, education, legal awareness, livelihood support — directly to the communities that need them most. We plan to organise similar health camps in other underserved neighbourhoods across Mumbai and Maharashtra in the months ahead. If you are a medical professional, a hospital, a clinic, or an individual who wishes to partner with us or volunteer at future camps, we warmly invite you to reach out. Together, we can do so much more. Together, we move closer to building a healthier, more equitable, and more inclusive society — one camp, one patient, one community at a time. 🌱

Visit to Aadhar Tirth Ashram, Gharkul Parivar Sanstha, Anusuyatmaja

On August 6th, 2025, our group undertook a surprise visit to ensure that the educational materials provided were being properly distributed to the children, confirming that the resources reached their intended recipients. During the visit, we also explored a newly established facility called Anusuyatmaja, situated in Igatpuri. This residential school is specially designed to support mentally challenged girls and boys, as well as children who are deaf and mute, providing them with a safe and nurturing environment for learning and growth. In addition to these visits, we went to Gharkul Parivar Sanstha, where we had the opportunity to purchase a variety of innovative handmade articles crafted by mentally challenged women. These unique creations were intended for Raksha Bandhan, symbolizing both creativity and empowerment. The entire experience was deeply inspiring, highlighting the importance of supporting inclusive education and encouraging the talents of differently-abled individuals in our community.

Hope in a Hamper: Meals for the Marginalized

Many adivasi students from below poverty line districts leave their villages to study, relying entirely on the institutions that house them. We raise funds to support these residential institutions with essential supplies — ensuring every child has the nourishment, comfort, and dignity they deserve. We also stand with institutions caring for physically and mentally challenged individuals, providing them with the resources to continue their vital work.

A routine cataract surgery costs what many of us might spend on a weekend dinner, yet for someone living on the footpath, it is an impossible fortune. This fund guarantees 10 free, high-quality surgeries for roadside and BPL patients. They may be invisible to the city, but let's prove that humanity hasn't turned a blind eye to their struggle.
